Restaurants in Rouen
Don’t be surprised to find plenty of fresh, succulent seafood in France’s fourth largest port. Rouen lives up to its status as Normandy’s capital in offering a superb selection of restaurants serving fantastic Norman cuisine. Restaurants are dotted all around the city, with many found in the antiques quarter near Eglise St-Maclou and, inevitably, in the old market square. Key local ingredients include fresh fish, rich cream, butter, and apples, which are on tantalizing display in the daily market, place du Vieux Marché (Tues–Sat 7am–7pm and Sun 7am-1pm). A much larger food market is in the place St-Marc east of the cathedral (Tues, Fri, and Sat 6am–6pm, Sun 6am–1:30pm).
