Rockwood Park

This is the park where most locals head for recreation and relaxation. Those out for a stroll or a run hit the network of trails through these 890 hectares (2,200 acres) of lovely urban preserve, which take in lakes, forests, and rocky hills. There’s swimming at sandy beaches, mountain biking, rock climbing, golf at a pretty 18-hole municipal golf course (greens fees C$21–C$52), a campground, gardens, mini golf, and boat rentals including canoes and kayaks. Lily’s Café in the Hatheway Pavilion at Lily Lake, supplies a selection of delicious burgers, pasta and seafood dishes, while Britt’s Pub, a popular uptown English-style eatery, is also in the clubhouse at the golf course. The park, located just a 5-minute drive north of downtown, gets especially popular on weekends.
