Getting There
Seven trains travel directly from Madrid’s North station to Salamanca daily (trip time: 2 3/4 hr.), arriving northeast of the town center on Plaza de la Estación de Ferrocarril (tel. 90-232-03-20;www.renfe.com). The fare is 24€. More frequent are rail connections between Salamanca and the cities of Avila, Ciudad Rodrigo, and Valladolid (around 6 trains each per day). There is also frequent daily bus service from Madrid (trip time: 2 1/2–3 hr.). The fare is 16€ to 23€. Salamanca’s bus terminal is at Av. Filiberto Villalobos, 71 (tel. 92-322-60-79), northwest of the town center. If you’re driving from Madrid, take the N-VI northwest, forking off to Salamanca on the N-501.

The Oficina Municipal de Turismo de Salamanca, Plaza Mayor, 32 (tel. 92-327-83-42;www.salamanca.es), is open July to mid-September Monday to Friday 9am to 2pm and 4:30 to 8pm, Saturday 10am to 8pm, and Sunday 10am to 2pm; mid-September to June Monday to Friday 9am to 2pm and 4 to 6:30pm, Saturday 10am to 6:30pm, and Sunday 10am to 2pm. The regional Oficina de Información Turistica de Castilla y León,Rúa Mayor at Casa de las Conchas (tel. 92-336-85-71;www.turismocastillayleon), is open mid–September to June daily 9am to 2pm and 5 to 8pm; July to mid-September Sunday to Thursday 9am to 8pm, Friday and Saturday 9am to 7pm.
