Hawthorne Hotel
This historic hotel, built in 1925, is both convenient and comfortable. The six-story building is centrally located and well maintained, with a traditional atmosphere. Attractively furnished guest rooms vary in size from snug to spacious; some bathrooms are small, and about half of them have only a shower instead of a bathtub. The best units, on the Salem Common (north) side of the building, have better views than rooms that face the street. Ask to be as high up as possible, because the neighborhood is busy.
