The notoriously tiny airstrip at the Salt Cay airport has been lengthened and resurfaced -- but you still need to arrive during daylight hours; the airstrip is not lighted for night. Air Turks & Caicos offers daily flights between Provo and Salt Cay; the flight takes 30 minutes and costs $160. Contact Global for schedules and fees.
A government-subsidized ferry runs between Grand Turk and Salt Cay, weather permitting, every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday (leaving from South Dock -- the island's only dock, by the way). The trip takes an hour and costs $12. You can also hire a private boat operator to take you between Salt Cay and Grand Turk (as long as the seas aren't too rough). Contact Salt Cay Adventure Tours (tel. 649/946-6909; www.saltcaytours.com). Cruise-ship passengers who arrive in Grand Turk can also contact Salt Cay Adventure Tours to arrange day trips to Salt Cay.
