The notoriously tiny airstrip at the Salt Cay airport has been lengthened and resurfaced -- but you still need to arrive during daylight hours; the airstrip is not lighted for night. Air Turks & Caicos (tel. 649/946-4999 or 649/946-6940 or -6906 on Salt Cay; www.airturksandcaicos.com) and fly to Salt Cay from Providenciales. Or you can charter a flight with Global Airways (tel. 649/231-0045; www.globalairways.tc) or Caicos Express (tel. 649/244-1407; firstname.lastname@example.org); flights run from $500 to $650 a charter.
