One of the various mini-museums inside the Salzburg Museum, the small and charming Toy Museum runs on a joint ticket with the Museum of Historic Musical Instruments. Founded in 1978, this is Austria's largest collection of historical European toys, starting with antique dolls and dollhouses and moving through paper theaters, puzzles, optical toys, tin and pewter figures, and whizzing railway sets. Of course there are also soft and furry toys, including an extensive collection of teddy bears. There's a Punch and Judy show every Wednesday at 3 and 3:30pm (€4), except in summer. If you get inspired, check out the world-famous Salzburg Marionette Theatre across the Salzach, where performances include The Sound of Music, The Magic Flute, and The Nutcracker.
