Near the Landestheater on the Right Bank is a surprising alternative B&B with oriental décor and a DIY approach. The interior is colorful, with dabs of Indian and Southeast Asian patterns tastefully compiled through seven rooms. There's a shared kitchen and a yoga studio on the property. Throughout the day, breakfast food and drinks are available on a self-service, trust basis, with a box to collect the €1 for coffee or €2 for muesli with yogurt. Of the five rooms on the second floor (starting at €59), the "Monte Cristo" is the most romantic, with a canopy bed. All have somewhat awkward showers inserted into small spaces with doors that fold away. The top-floor "Loft" and "Studio" units sleep up to four people, with the Studio having the only bath tub on the property. The reception is manned from 8am to noon and the manager Reinhold, a native Salzburger, knows the town inside out. He's happy to help with day planning, tickets, and tips on activities. This may be an unorthodox choice, but it's a great way to save money while staying in the center of town.
