This time-honored house has kept its stellar reputation by maintaining a standard of perfect service. The old-school approach carries over to the furnishings, as each room exudes an Alpine-country-house feel from the carved wood headboards and mounted antlers to the cozy upholstered armchairs. Thankfully, the faded glory hasn't stayed everywhere, as modern luxuries are present in the bathrooms, like the heated mirrors and walk-in showers available in some of the rooms. The public spaces also have the luxury-hunting-lodge feel, and if that's your thing, you will enjoy it. Of the two restaurants, the s'Herzl tavern is cozier and more affordable than the Goldener Hirsch restaurant, and does more with the rustic vibe of the hotel. While the décor in the entire establishment could use an upgrade, even other hotels' staffs agree the Goldener Hirsch boasts the most able and accommodating team in town.
