Haesindang Park
Samcheok is home to the only place in the area where the Korean phallic tradition continues. Indeed, large-scale penis sculptures are the big draw here. Originally created to appease the soul of a dead virgin, there are over 50 phallic statues in this surprisingly picturesque park, located along the shore. Called the Sinnam Village of Wondukeup, the park has the Haeshindang shrine and a pretty extensive Fishery Village Tradition Exhibition Center. This folk museum shows some interesting shamanistic rituals observed by traditional fishermen in order to get a good catch. Unfortunately, the displays lack English explanations, but they are still fun to look at nevertheless. The park complex is about 20km (12 miles) south of Samcheok.
