In the hills around San Agustín are these four smaller archaeological sites that lack road access and are rather close to each other. While walking to each is possible with a good map, nearly everyone that visits these sites does so on a horseback-riding tour. Each site is unique. La Chaquira, at the edge of a gorge overlooking the Magdalena, features a bas-relief sculpted in rock, while El Purutal has two statues that still have much of their original pigment. There are no facilities at any of these sites, so plan accordingly.
