This airport hotel gem is where I'd stay if I were flying in and out of San Antonio on business. A "vision of W Hotels," the Aloft brand of budget inns features trendy touches and cool business-friendly features. There's a pool, a lounge, and a contemporary little bar with lighting that changes to set the mood. A snack area lets guests pick out treats for charging to their rooms. Aloft also features a 24/7 gym, fun little Fido-friendly amenities for your pet, and room service provided by a local pub. Although not as posh as a W Hotel, Aloft offers a scaled-down version of all the things W Hotel regulars enjoy, including mod room décor, plush beds, and industrial-chic lounge spaces. With free parking and Wi-Fi, and good rates, it all adds up to a great value for travelers. This Aloft is also a budget-friendly place for families with kids, since it's fairly convenient to area theme parks and attractions. The hotel offers some cool kiddie perks, too, like child-sized air mattresses and kid's bedding, goody bags, kid-friendly food options, and a splash pool, so your pet isn't the only one to get spoiled. Rooms aren't overly large, but they're contemporary and clean, and well-suited to the young business set who wants to come, plug in, unplug, and then hit the airport shuttle in the morning. "Plug & play" connectivity stations allow guests to charge their electronics and link to 42" LCD TVs. Services here are more help-yourself than pampering, but not in a bad way. There are no real views, but don't take a room on the ground level, as you don't want headlights facing your windows. One nice perk? The hotel offers a complimentary shuttle to the airport and other area attractions. One important thing to note: This hotel calls itself an airport hotel—and it's not far —but it isn't exactly next door, so leave plenty of time to make your flight.
