Located across the street from a Greek Orthodox church, Demo’s is a little bit of Greece in San Antonio, and a favorite among members of the local Greek community. Occasionally you might see a belly-dancing show (not only here, but in its other two locations as well). You can dine on the airy patio or in the dining room, decorated with murals of Greek island scenes. The menu includes gyros, Greek burgers, dolmas, spanakopita, and other Mediterranean specialties. If you go for the Dieter’s Special—a Greek salad with your choice of gyros or souvlaki—you might be able to justify the baklava. The original (but more characterless) restaurant is at 7115 Blanco Rd. #120 (tel. 210/342-2772), near Loop 410, across from what used to be Central Park Mall. A third location is farther out at 1205 N. Loop 1604 at Blanco (tel. 210/798-3840).
