You don’t have to stay in a King William B&B to step inside a Victorian mansion filled with exquisite turn-of-the-20th-century furnishings: Simply have lunch or brunch at Guenther House. Set in the home of the owners of San Antonio’s Pioneer Flour Company—the crenellated castle-like tower of the flour mill just across the river is a San Antonio icon—the restaurant is a charming spot for a hearty breakfast or a light lunch. Biscuits and gravy and other baked goods (using Pioneer flour) are popular here, as are the waffles and pancakes, served ‘til closing time at 3pm. At lunch, the Tex-Mex taco salad is a local favorite. When the weather is fine, dine alfresco on the trellised patio. A small museum and gift shop selling Pioneer products like pancake mix are adjacent to the restaurant.
