Built in 1847 in what was then the German Little Rhein district, one of the oldest two-story structures in San Antonio has hosted a steakhouse abutting the river and La Villita since 1967. Antiques deck the indoor main dining room and a miniature train surrounded by historic photos runs overhead. Little sparkling lights drape tree branches overhanging the River Walk patio, which is elevated slightly and railed off for privacy. This is the place to come if you’re looking for a good steak—all are prime beef and grilled over hardwood—in a homier, more romantic setting than your typical sleek meat emporium.
