Rolando’s Super Tacos
One of the many small businesses that pack both sides of West Hildebrand Avenue between I-10 and Trinity University, Rolando’s is a good example of the dining bargains you’ll find outside of the downtown tourist zone. Don’t be put off by the setting, a rambling shack painted in vivid red and green next door to a Chevron station. It’s worth coming here for the extra-large tacos (corn or flour tortillas) with fillings like chorizo and eggs, beans and bacon, steak and guacamole . . . the variations seem endless. You can also get small (as in normal size) versions. Also popular, especially for Saturday and Sunday breakfast or brunch, are the huge combination plates.
