Offering a variety of interactive exhibits and activities, this popular place is all about exploring the wonders of science as a way to entertain and stimulate the minds of children of all ages (and adults, too). There are 12 permanent exhibitions, including the Tinkering Studio, designed to inspire budding young inventors, and Kid City, a large, exploratory playground for the under five set. Visiting exhibitions include crowd pleasers such as "Guitar: The Instrument That Rocked the World," which delves into the physics behind the electric guitar and gives kids a chance to play the world's biggest guitar, a 43-foot long Flying V. The Fleet also offers a slate of movies in its grand IMAX Dome Theater, the world's first, and a state-of-the-art planetarium. Adults who want in on the fun, but without the competition from kids, might want to check out Science on the Rocks, an evening program that organizes hand-on activities based on a rotating scientific theme and includes cocktails, music and food.
