While you're wandering through Balboa Park, spend a few minutes checking out the information and memorabilia collected by the San Diego Historical Society. Changing exhibits have focused on such varied themes as the local craft brew culture, the tuna fishing industry, and local artists, including Donal Hord and Belle Baranceanu. Local schools and groups also present exhibitions on current issues, including the story of San Diego's Somali refugees. The gift shop has all sorts of themed wares, plus books and an excellent selection of historic photos.
