This welcoming bed-and-breakfast occupies a well-preserved, 1880s-era Queen Anne Victorian mansion only blocks away from Balboa Park. All the rooms—six in the main house, three in the carriage house—feature private bathrooms, charming period décor and free Wi-Fi. The surrounding gardens are lovely, and the friendly hosts couldn’t be more helpful. One caveat: the quaint ambiance may occasionally be punctured by the sound of airplane traffic overhead; still, for travelers averse to faceless, corporate-style lodging, this place makes a terrific option.
