Choose a filet or carne asada, add eggs, potatoes, toast or tortillas and a spicy Bloody Mary and you’ve got a great start on the weekend. This Mission Valley standard serves the best breakfast in a valley packed with chain hotels, and you can easily spot the families headed to Sea World among the diehard regulars greeting staff like old friends. Along with hefty omelets, Adams serves fluffy corn fritters with honey butter (a personal favorite) and a cinnamon roll big enough to feed a table of four. Peppers and onions are sautéed with the home fries, which irritates some purists, but give them a try with chunky salsa and you could be won over. There’s little room between the wooden tables and chairs lined up in the long room; the umbrella-shaded patio tables are more inviting.
