Jukeboxes, red vinyl booths and chrome stools at the counter are sure-fire signs this classic coffee shop has been serving up eggs, bacon and hashbrowns for many a decade. The food's about as basic as it gets—burgers, dogs, club sandwich at lunch and meatloaf or chicken fried steak at dinner. But it's usually well prepared, though not completely dependable. Still, if you slip a quarter in the jukebox you get two whole songs and can feel like you've flashbacked to the Fifties. There's also a takeout window around the corner for the regular menu's items, and an adjacent tiny Mexican Take Out, 1107 10th St. ([tel] 619/437-8811) for OK tacos and burritos.
