A honeymoon-worthy spot, this boutique hotel pulls off the neat trick of being chic, luxurious and highly authentic to its roots. All rooms are individually decorated, with unique art and furniture produced within a 65km (40-mile) radius of the hotel. For those celebrating special occasions we recommend the larger, private casitas over the guestrooms. Hidden away in the lush gardens of the resort, they feature small decks in both the front and the back; and bathrooms with a wall of glass tiles in the large showers, letting in natural light. If that isn’t cushy enough, go for a villa—each has its own private pool (the resort also has an infinity pool set above a waterfall). In addition to the excellent restaurant here (p. ###), they have a well-stocked wine cellar and cigar bar. All of this pampering is extended to the offered tours—not only are they expertly executed, but the staff take photos and videos so that guests can enjoy their time gadget-free.
