This boutique hotel is blessed with old-world charm. High arches and curves abound. The top touch is the winding interior alleyway that snakes down from the reception through the hotel. Most of the rooms have superb views of the Central Valley from private balconies; the others have pleasant garden patios. All are up to modern resort standards (although some have cramped bathrooms), and are minimalist in style, with white-washed walls and black-and-white photos from the 1920s. The suites are far larger, each with a separate sitting room and big Jacuzzi-style tubs in spacious bathrooms. The hotel’s La Luz restaurant is a winner, serving up organic Mediterranean fare.
