We love the location and historic charm of this downtown hotel. Opened in 1930 and set right on the Plaza de la Cultura and catty-corner to the Teatro Nacional, this is a great place to base yourself for some city explorations. The rooms are certainly adequate but feel a bit bare and dated, although that’s partly due to their attempt at historical accuracy, n fact, history buffs might be interested in the JFK Presidential suite, where President John F. Kennedy stayed during his 1963 visit. Breakfasts are served on the 5th floor mezzanine; grab a balcony table if you can, you’ll enjoy it with a great view. Meanwhile, down on the ground floor, the hotel’s Cafeteria 1930 is a great place for a cup of coffee and some people-watching.
