We recommend this somewhat dowdy property because it offers a clean, comfortable good night's sleep in the heart of the historic zone at an economic rate, not an easy find these days. The staff is friendly and full of good tips and the hotel is set right on the Plaza del Armas, meaning it rubs shoulders with San Juan City Hall and the Puerto Rico State Department, and is close to everything a visitor might want to see. Pass up the continental breakfast (not included in the nightly rate) and dine at the Cafe Cuatro Estaciones on the Plaza with the locals instead. Alas, it does not have a pool or sundeck.
