The area in the direct vicinity of the cruiseship docks is not the best neighborhood to stay in Old San Juan, and while the Sheraton is comfortable, it lacks that Old City charm that mark other lodging nearby options, many of which are more affordable than the Sheraton. The rooftop pool is the biggest in the neighborhood but still small by island standards, with a cramped sunbathing area. Bottom line, this is a good option only if you have to/or want to spend a lot of time in Old San Juan and need the accouterments of a full service hotel. There is nothing particularly unpleasant about the Sheraton, just nothing that makes it much of an attraction in and of itself. If you do stay here, walk up a block to SoFo and some of the best restaurants in all of San Juan for meals.
