Yes this is one of those poolside hotel restaurants that serve flavorful but uninspired dishes based on the tastes of a generic U.S. tourist. Like those other establishments, Ciao's location is so perfect you often just don't mind paying more just so you won't have to leave. Even among hotel pool bars, this place is special, spreading across a boardwalk beneath palm trees and lined with blooming tropical plants that fronts the wide, golden Isla Verde beach. A long bar with seats runs the length of the restaurant from the beach side; it’s a great spot to take a break from the sun. The food here is also a cut above most pool bar cafes, marked by influences from Spanish, Greek and Moroccan cuisine. It’s helpful to know about when you want something good to eat without leaving the beach.
