A locals’ favorite, Cueva del Mar is a boisterous, fun restaurant with some of the best, and most affordable, seafood on the island. Go bien criolla with the asopao de camarones (shrimp rice stew), or the red snapper in alcaparra sauce, or stay more down island with the grouper in coconut sauce. It's all good. The mofongo, whether you have it stuffed with seafood in a criolla sauce or the churrasco, or as a side to anything, is particularly good, with a crunchy outer shield and perfectly a balanced, smooth interior. Not a fish fan? The chicken fricassee and roast pork are top notch, too. The kindly waiters will walk you through the menu and make sure you get something that delights your taste buds.
