This dreamy restaurant, in the flowering Spanish colonial courtyard of Old San Juan's most exquisite historic hotel, offers a deliciously cool respite during a day of site-seeing, or a romantic sojourn in the evening. Have a leisurely meal or drink in the shadow of the hotel's century-old nispero tree. The menu is a traditional mix of American, Puerto Rican, and continental dining options, but while the tune may be familiar, the kitchen never misses a note, and we've enjoyed everything from Eggs Benedict to the stuffed mofongo to the filet mignon. Drinks, from the ginger mojito to cafe con leche, are also first rate. Prices are inflated by the atmosphere, but it's perfectly fine to linger over drinks.
