Pico Duarte is the highest peak in the Caribbean, towering to a height of 3,087m (10,130 ft.). It is part of the Cordillera Central range of mountains and was named after Juan Pablo Duarte, one of the nation’s founding fathers—a bust of Duarte now resides on the summit. You can hike to the top on trails past forests of pine and tropical ferns.
