The massive monolith that is Gran Torre Santiago breaks a lot of records. It's the tallest skyscraper in South America, at 65 stories. It holds the continent's largest shopping mall, which could also be named the most organized—each floor is devoted to just one category of shopping. And two hotels compete for business off its elevators. But the reasons most visitors head here is for the awe-inspiring, 365-degree views, over the sprawl of the city and to the mountain ranges all around. From up here it's clearer than on the ground of the massive size of Santiago, a metropolis that's now home to 40% of the population of the country. You'll get the best views right before sunset. The smog is tamped down a bit then, and you'll get to see the city move from light into lit-up through the deck's floor-to-ceiling windows.
