"Southern Lookout Park" lies in the southwestern sector of Santo Domingo. The young professional set of the city can be seen here in the early morning in their jogging suits. They also roller-skate and bicycle through the park. Later in the day an older crowd visits the park. After school, it is often filled with mothers and their children. The park was created on a large limestone ridge that is studded with caves, many the size of a football field, although some hardly have room for a mongoose and its offspring. When you get thirsty, you'll find any number of food stands or juice bars. Baseball is the national sport of the Dominican Republic, and you'll note several baseball diamonds scattered about. The park is closed to cars daily from 6 to 9am and 4 to 8pm.
