The Modern Art Museum in Ibirapuera Park is housed in one of Oscar Niemeyer's elegant, curvaceous white concrete buildings. The museum usually hosts six or seven different art exhibits a year, including paintings, sculptures, and video installations, which tend to remain on display for two to three months. The last trimester of each year is dedicated to the Panorama of Brazilian Art, a collective showing of up to 40 Brazilian artists. The exhibit—which in 2013 had its 33rd edition—is a great opportunity to view new works and get a feel for the Brazilian modern art scene. Allow one hour to see the museum.
