The Museum of Image and Sound draws a hip, younger crowd with beautifully curated audio-visual exhibits, contemporary photography, and popular explorations of modern film and music. Recent blockbusters have included a comprehensive Stanley Kubrick exhibit and a David Bowie showcase that was organized by the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. The museum also features a lab with video installations and presentations. Be sure to stop by the museum garden to visit the restaurant, a rectangular, concrete building with large glass windows, for a snack or lunch. Allow two hours to see it all. Although the Brazilian Sculpture Museum (Museu Brasileira da Escultura or MUBE) next door is not worth the trek on its own, you may want to check out the free exhibit there after touring the MIS. On Sundays, there's an antiques market outside the MUBE on the square adjacent to the grounds of the MIS.
