Hotels in Sarasota
Most visitors stay out at the beaches, but cost-conscious travelers will find some decent deals on the mainland, such as the Ramada by Wyndham Sarasota Waterway, 7150 N. Tamiami Trail (tel. 941/203-6439). It’s close to the beaches and overlooks the bay, with an onsite restaurant and bar, a swimming pool, a staff that cares, and best of all, nightly rates that rarely pop above $200, even in high season (and usually cost far below that). We think it’s head-and-tails better than the other area chain motels, though there are a number of those if you want to use loyalty points.
The beaches here are lined with condominiums, many of which are actually all-condo projects operated as hotels. Besides the usual Airbnb and Vrbo properties, Florida Vacation Connection (tel. 877/702-9981 or 941/387-9709) has a deep knowledge of the properties it reps, and offers everything from studios and three-bedroom condos to five-bedroom homes. It’s been in biz since 1994.
Sarasota's high season is from January to April. The bed tax in Sarasota County of 6% plus 7% sales tax adds a 13% total tax to your bill.
