Savannah’s largest hotel lies in splendid isolation on the other side of the river from the Historic District. Getting across is easy however, thanks to the free ferry. As you’d expect, the amenities and rooms—which face either the golf course or the river—are the usual Westin standard (the staff is great), but thanks to the daily resort fee, this is really only worthwhile if you intend to use the resort facilities or play golf at least once during your stay (tee fees from $68). The hotel also offers shuttles ($40) and free access to the beaches of Daufuskie Island, and lounging on the pool deck overlooking the city is certainly an added bonus. The Westin is another hotel popular with tour groups and conferences.
