Arguably Savannah’s best restaurant, this shrine to fine dining occupies the oldest and most evocative part of the Mansion on Forsyth Park, a lavish space enhanced with high ceilings, striking contemporary art installations, and Victorian antiques. Start with rope-cultured mussels (served with chorizo and grilled baguette) or the fried green tomatoes, dressed up with banana pepper chow chow (a spicy relish), and caraway goat cheese. The entrée selection always comprises local seafood—think wreckfish with boursin-cheese grits, or scallops in yellow coconut curry—but the meats are especially well done. Options might include New Zealand venison loin served with seasonal succotash and sweet potato steak fries, or a broiled pork chop with hazelnut cream.
