The Hyatt-owned Andaz occupies prime territory on historic Ellis Square, but this is not another old mansion: the hotel was purpose-built in 2009, with nary an antique bed in sight. Anyone looking for a contemporary, stylish boutique hotel—again, this is not an historic inn—should consider the slick, comfy rooms here. Extras include complimentary soft drinks and snacks in the minibar (alcoholic drinks are charged), a decent 24-hour gym and enticing pool area with rooftop terrace. Rates including the substantial buffet breakfast tend to be $20 more.
