There is frequent tram service from the Hague by lines 1 or 9 to the seafront at Gevers Deynootplein in front of the Kurhaus Hotel; 11 to the beach between the Kurhaus and the fishing harbor; and 10 or 17 to the harbor area. Although there's no real reason to choose the bus over the tram, bus line 22 goes to the resort from outside Den Haag Centraal station.
By car from the Hague, you can take numerous alternative routes to the resort; the most direct is on Scheveningseweg from the Peace Palace, through the Scheveningse Bosjes (Scheveningen Woods). Going by bicycle is even better, and there are several special signposted bicycling routes.
VVV Scheveningen, Gevers Deynootweg 1134 (mailing address: Postbus 85456, 2500 CD Den Haag; tel. 0900/340-3505; fax 070/352-0426; www.denhaag.com; tram: 1 or 9), is at the Palace Promenade mall. The office is open Monday to Friday from 9:30am to 5:30pm, Saturday from 10am to 5pm, and Sunday from 10am to 3pm.
The harbor, crowded with fishing boats and lined with restaurants that serve up just-caught seafood, is where the Dutch herring fleet is launched with a colorful Vlaggetjesdag (Flag Day) celebration each year on the first or second Saturday in June. Fishermen's wives dress up in their traditional costume. The fleet then returns with the new season's herring catch, amid much fanfare.
