You’ve seen the Waterfront and Seattle Center, now head back in time and have a look at the oldest part of Seattle, in and around the Pioneer Square neighborhood.

1. Start with a coffee at Caffe Umbria or Zeitgeist Coffee.

2. Then take the wonderfully entertaining Underground Tour, where you’ll wander through tunnels that were once streets and hear anecdotes about life in early Seattle. Afterward, explore the old streets around Pioneer Square.

3. The Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park will give you insight into one of the seminal events in Seattle’s history.

4. Then head over to the nearby Chinatown/International District for dim sum at Jade Garden and a look around the neighborhood, maybe visiting the Wing Luke Asian Museum or arranging for a walking tour.

5. On your last evening in Seattle, have dinner at one of Seattle’s many fine restaurants, perhaps Lola in Belltown or Ray’s Boathouse in Ballard.
