It’s difficult to characterize this appealing restaurant across from the Parmount Theater, but that’s partly why I like it. The décor is meant to represent a kind of retro late-’60s lounge, but the food is strictly of today with what’s called a “plant forward” menu emphasizing the freshest produce available. Most come here for filling and delicious vegetarian meals but there’s a small selection of local fish and meat dishes, too. On my last visit I enjoyed delicious heirloom tomatoes with red lentil hummus, beet green chermoula, mint and sesame, and chickpea-fava fritters with almond tahini. That and a perfect peach crumble with buttermilk ice cream for dessert and I was set. The menu here changes daily depending on the produce and the chefs are given free rein to invent new taste combinations. Great wine and cocktail selections, too. The restaurant is right across from the Paramount Theater.
