This may be the hardest place in the area to book a room—people have been coming here for so many years and like it so much that they reserve a year in advance (however, cancellations do occur). What makes the lodge so special? Maybe it’s that you have to drive through the heart of Oak Creek Canyon to get to your log cabin; maybe it’s the beautiful gardens or the relaxing atmosphere of an old-time summer getaway. There are 17 well-maintained cabins over 10 breathtakingly verdant acres, complete with tennis court, gardens, an apple orchard, and more. They are rustic—literally made of logs—but comfortable; the larger ones have fireplaces. Meals include organic fruits and vegetables grown on the property, and there’s a yoga pavilion overlooking the creek. Note: Rates include full breakfast and dinner, and an afternoon tea, too.
