Injecting some much-needed international sophistication into Bali's limited nightclub scene, Townhouse just about succeeds in its aim of bringing New York clubbing excitement to downtown Seminyak. Inaugurated by NYC nightlife godfather Mark Baker and his team (behind legendary clubs Lotus, The Double Seven, and Buddha Bar), this nightclub comes stylishly designed in vintage brownstone meets funky urban chic. Street-level Squeeze offers all-day gourmet café bites, American bistro-style dining, and a juice bar as a legacy of Baker's The Juice Press, but Townhouse is really about clubbing. Head to the Rooftop Garden at sunset, complete with cabanas, ocean views, and chill DJ sounds (return here later for a breather). The mid-level Club Lounge (Wednesday to Saturday only) is focused on VIP seating and groovin' the night away, courtesy of independent artists, in-house residents, and top international guest DJs, pumping out mainly house and underground beats. Things should start heating up around 11pm. Sounds filter through to the Upper Lounge, setting a more chilled vibe for some serious posing. Both decadent lounges feature classically elegant interiors of plush leather furniture and crystal chandeliers. The cocktails are hand-crafted and bespoke, curated by a New York mixologist. With much pomp, this was declared the red-hot new darling of the island party set (you decide); nightclub veteran Baker's international celeb pals tend to drop by when visiting Bali, including Justin Bieber and supermodels like Cara Delavigne. It's a totally glam venue, so expect a pretty tight dress code at the door.
