Within a converted bi-level warehouse, Mama San evokes the glamor of 1930's Shanghai, with a mix of Eastern exoticism, colonial decadence, urban chic, and (unusual for Bali) air-conditioned bliss. It's all watched over by Mama San herself, from a most stunning wall mural that takes up the back wall. This outlet of celebrity chef Will Meyrick's expanding culinary empire is all about authentic, sublime South Asian street food, representing Thai, Vietnamese, Indian, Singaporean, Malay, Chinese, and Indonesian traditions—only without the "street," as this is an upscale Asian culinary odyssey. Generations-old home-cooking recipes come sourced across Asia personally by the intrepid chef himself. All-day menus cover taste bud-tingling curries, salads, Asian bites, stir-fries, and more, with wildly flavorsome dishes like betel leaf-wrapped Vietnamese pork belly or beef-and-bamboo dumplings. Daily lunch and dinner specials highlight typical dishes like Vietnamese bun cha and Thai khao gang minced chicken. Come at Sunday lunchtime for refined dim sum à la carte, which is generally hard to find on the island (and thus making it hard to get a seat here).

Post-dinner, head upstairs to the gentleman's club-inspired bar and lounge (and smokers' zone), complete with chandeliers and plush chesterfields. Asian-inspired mixologist cocktails include a divine coconut mojito, topped with sugared coconut shavings. The livelier Friday night bar sessions with live DJs make for a smokin' (literally) hotspot.
