Part of Namseorak (South Seorak), the hot springs were supposedly discovered by a Buddhist monk during the Joseon Period. Water that is high in iron and carbonic acid flows in rivulets from three base rocks. It's supposed to have many health benefits, including being good for the complexion, and is sometimes called Miinoncheon (Beauty Hot Springs) as well. The area has some easy walks and some very challenging trails, but what draws most visitors are the hot springs and baths available in the area's resort hotels, such as the Greenyard Hotel (tel. 033/670-1000) and the Seorak Spa (tel. 033/672-2645).
