The nation's first arts complex, it houses five buildings -- the Opera House, the Concert Hall, Hangaram Art Museum, the Seoul Calligraphy Art Museum, and the Arts Library/Design Museum, built between 1982 and 1993. The center features opera performances (like La Bohème or Carmen), orchestra concerts of classical music, plays, ballets, modern and traditional dance, and imported American musicals. They also hold a variety of exhibitions of international artists, contemporary Korean artists, traditional ceramics, and the like.
