This small, female-only hostel is particularly popular with Japanese and Chinese women visiting Korea for "medical tourism" purposes (the neighborhood is abundant with plastic surgery clinics). As such, there is little information in English, but the kind manager goes out of her way to make visitors feel comfortable despite the language barrier. In addition to pluses like 24-hr. security and free breakfasts, The Zip is conveniently located just a few blocks from Garuso-gil, one of Seoul's trendiest shopping districts, and a short walk from Sinsa Station. Rooms contain bare-bones furnishings but are clean, with big windows creating bright, airy spaces. Two common rooms boast big-screen TVs, dining tables, and lots of pamphlets on nearby attractions and facilities. The Zip is not a guesthouse to meet fellow travelers. In fact, it's quite easy to stay here during the low season and not see anyone at all. For women seeking a bit of peace and quiet, or a getaway from men, The Zip makes for a great place to rest.
