If you're in need of a light lunch, don't miss Jean's Deli, 134 S. Second St. (tel. 360/683-6727). This sandwich shop is located in a historic church building a block off Sequim's main street. Café Provence, Cedarbrook Herb Farm, 1345 S. Sequim Ave. (tel. 360/683-4541), at the top of a hill on the south side of the highway bypass around Sequim, is a great lunch spot for avid gardeners. For a retro diner experience, try Hiway 101 Diner, 392 W. Washington St. (tel. 360/683-3388). My brother says his family won't let him drive through Sequim without stopping here for burgers and milkshakes.

For a caffeine fix, head to Hurricane Coffee, 104 W. Washington St. (tel. 360/681-6008; www.hurricanecoffee.com), or The Buzz, 128 N. Sequim Ave. (tel. 360/683-2503; www.thebuzzbeedazzled.com), which is right across the street and serves coffee from my favorite Seattle roaster -- Caffe Vita. Pick up tasty picnic fare at Sunny Farms Country Store, 261461 U.S. 101 (tel. 360/683-8003) on the west side of Sequim.
