Located right in the heart of the former French Concession, with its plane trees that arch over the roadways, the Regal International East Asia provides excellent value for its accommodations and location. Folks who want to spend time exploring the surrounding historic French Concession neighborhoods will especially appreciate the location, although those who want to spend most of their time near the bustling Nanjing Road, Bund, or People's Square might find it a bit too far away. (It is, however, just a few minutes away from the Hengshan Road station.) Rooms are spacious, clean, and decorated with an Asian flair, and the Western and Asian breakfast hits all the mainstays including cereal, coffee and yogurt for the foreigners, and congee for Chinese visitors. Skip lunches and dinners and instead head out the doors to any of Shanghai's great restaurants. At the Regal, you'll find some of the best fitness facilities available anywhere in the city, with squash, seven indoor and outdoor tennis courts, bowling alleys, and a pool.
