Located adjacent to the upscale IFC mall, the Ritz-Carlton Pudong opened in 2010 and caters to the business and lifestyle traveler. The rooms with the Bund-view are fantastic, and the breakfast spread on the 52nd floor is among the best 5-star breakfasts in town with views to match the selection. The infinity pool is also nice with a view of the Huangpu River and a large hot tub that will fit at least a dozen guests. The Flair bar is an excellent place to take guests if you'd like to enjoy the view on the open-air patio. If you'd rather opt out of the hotel restaurants, simply walk to the IFC mall and try Morton's, Isola or or any of the more casual food offerings on the lower floors. However, though the Ritz is only a few years old, the furniture in the rooms already seem a little worn and dated, with faux-wood vinyl paneling and golden carpets and drapes. Overall, this Ritz does well by its guests, especially those who pay to upgrade for Club Lounge Access, where a respectable spread of refreshments are changed 5 times daily to suit the time of day, and wine and beers are on offer. If you're staying in Pudong, know where your destinations are, as even the various buildings in Lujiazui are far apart enough to make choosing a hotel location important. Generally, the Ritz is among the most centrally-located of the luxury hotels.
