The Salvo Hotel is just a few minutes from East Nanjing Road station, from where you can reach almost anywhere in Shanghai conveniently and quickly. The hotel is equidistant between People's Square and the Bund. Rooms have Chinese-style décor and could use renovation, and the dark woods, patterned wallpaper, gold-gilded armchairs and low ceilings can make accommodations feel dated and small. Also don’t expect the English-speaking staff and service you might find in a five-star hotel (for example, there's no published telephone number; instead, book online via the hotel's website or various travel engines).  If you stay here, you want a basic room you won’t be spending much time in, at a cheap price with a good location in Shanghai.
